All parents are members of the Emanuel Parents Association (EPA), which is run voluntarily by Emanuel parents for Emanuel parents.

It is not a fundraising organisation and any money raised goes to support the activities of the EPA. The EPA is a registered charity with Trustees who safeguard its constitution.

Trustees are just a small part of the volunteer body. The work of the EPA helps generate opportunities for communication, networking and support for parents and we have over 100 volunteers making this happen. There are roles to suit everyone’s skill-set and time availability. We meet every term for a social/working evening in which we share a meal and plan the term ahead, which is a fun and efficient use of time and very well attended.

One volunteer group, the class reps, act as a liaison between the EPA trustees/events organising committees and their class. Reps are encouraged to arrange social events for their class or year but it is not obligatory. It’s a fun, well-supported role which is increasing in popularity.

Over the year, the EPA main committees organise a number of activities and events for the whole parent body including education seminars, second hand uniform sales, Quiz Night, Burns Night, Comedy Night as well Dacre Day – the annual celebration of our Founder. We also arrange welcome drinks and a meal to new parents at the beginning of the year.

A flagship initiative for the EPA is ECON (Emanuel Careers and Opportunities Network) – a way of tapping into the vast array of career experience held by parents. Loosely based on LinkedIn, the network provides students with the opportunity to learn about a variety of real-life jobs and careers by networking and to make contacts that could help them organise work experience.
