Milo (Year 13) recently took part in the London regional heat of the prestigious Articulation award, a national public speaking competition run by the National Gallery. The competition gives students the opportunity to present an original talk on a work of art, architecture or an artefact. Milo gave an inspiring talk on the National Theatre, Denys Lasdun’s iconic work of Brutalist architecture, built in 1976. Dave Lewis, photographer and lecturer at Goldsmiths University, UAL and London South Bank University, and adjudicator for the competition praised Milo for delivering an informative and well-presented talk. The competition was tough, with students from several leading London schools presenting unique readings of works of art. Although Milo didn’t get through to the next round of the competition he gave an insightful, thought-provoking presentation. The Art department is very proud of Milo’s achievement and we hope the next round of Articulation in September is as successful for the next Upper sixth group.
