Late in the Spring term, all of our Year 13 biologists competed in the British Biology Olympiad. This is an annual competition that tests not only the knowledge, but skills in biology related topics. It presents students with unfamiliar content where competitors have to apply their own knowledge to problem solving and understanding core principles in biology.
Every year over 10 000 students are put forward across the country. The top 5% of entrants are awarded a gold medal. This year we were proud that Yan (Upper Sixth) achieved this. We must also congratulate the Upper Sixth students Alex, Mathilda, Luke, Jacob for achieving a silver and Ben & Lucy for achieving a bronze. There were also 6 highly commended and 8 commended certificates awarded at Emanuel. This is the first time that Emanuel students have been entered for a number of years, and our results overall are exceptional. Well done to all who competed!
