Last week we hosted ‘The CWIZZ’ an annual book quiz competition organised by a collective of south London authors (CWISL) who love to promote reading. The Hampden Hall was totally rammed with almost forty teams from over twenty schools, including the eventual winners who had come from as far afield as Guildford (RGS). There was a lovely mix of secondary teams, local primary, and independent schools with terrific representation from our partnership schools. Since over 50% of pupils involved were from Year 6 there was a special trophy for the juniors, and it was wonderful to see one of our partnership schools Christ Church Primary finish a very excited second in that category.
We entered three teams and Emanuel ‘B’ were delighted to score higher than our ‘A’ team, eventually finishing fifth and seventh respectively, with our ‘C’ team finishing 22nd. Well done to all our teams for representing Emanuel so confidently. Team A: Effie, Emilie, Ellie, and Tosca. Team B: Mishka, Joseph, Anna, and Amelie. Team C: Lara, Anna. Madeleine and Selina.
The buzz around the Hampden Hall was wonderful with all the authors present reading extracts from their novels and giving away many extra prizes. The event concluded with a huge raffle and many children winning other gifts.

All the Emanuel players are members of our weekly ‘Lit Quiz Club’ and after Christmas the group reconvenes to start preparing for the British Online Quiz Championship, which begins in March.
