With the A Level exams being cancelled due to Covid-19, our Upper Sixth Further Mathematics class shifted their focus to writing a series of articles on an area of mathematics of interest to them.
In 7 years of teaching, their combined project is the most impressive piece of collective work I have seen. It was expertly compiled by Siddiq (Upper Sixth, Head Boy) and the quality of the articles is so far beyond school level mathematics that that they would not be out of place in a master’s thesis at any top institution.
Most of this class are going on to study Maths or Engineering at leading universities next year. Such is the quality of this work that it has been submitted to the Maths Association who are looking into hopefully publishing some of these articles in their future journals.
It is an exciting time for Mathematics at Emanuel, with a record number of students opting to study A Level Maths and Further Maths next year and with the bar set so high, we look forward to seeing what the future holds!
