On Thursday 7th February the sixth form Classics department took a trip to Bloomsbury Theatre at UCL to see their production of the Greek play, Oedipus Rex.
I thought it was a good performance, albeit with some slight diversions from Sophocles’ original script in order to create comedy. The chorus was depicted as a group of dying women, which worked well to show the suffering of the city of Thebes. We also particularly enjoyed the strong performances of the actors playing the messenger and Teiresias.
Overall it was a fun trip, with us having, quite literally, front row seats, to the mostly great acting. It was definitely worth it!
