No young adult is the same and we encourage every individual to pursue the route best suited to them. We offer a very detailed programme for planning progression, supporting students at every stage of their decision and application process.
The careers department at Emanuel provides information and one-to-one consultations for students on possible routes into different industries, helps organise work placements and advises on applications for internships and apprenticeships. The careers centre is well-stocked with guidance literature as well as practice material for entrance examinations such GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and ACT (American College Testing).
Students pursuing higher education are supported throughout the UCAS process by their form tutors and the sixth form team, with individual members of staff specialising in targeted applications such as for Oxbridge and medical degrees. In the autumn term of the upper sixth, weekly Life Education lessons are dedicated to completing UCAS personal statements.
Upper sixth students have the opportunity to apply for internships exclusive to Emanuel in the fields of finance, marketing, technology and tourism. Students also have access to ECON (Emanuel Careers & Opportunities Network) – a database run by the Emanuel Parents’ Association which allows students access to parents working in a variety of fields to offer support and advice about careers. We are also delighted to regularly welcome OEs (Old Emanuels) and current students to satellite events where we offer support and advice.
