Critical Build Plan

Over the coming years, subject to receiving the necessary planning consents from the boroughs of Wandsworth and Merton, we will undertake a critical and historic renovation and expansion of our site, the biggest capital development since our relocation to Wandsworth at the beginning of the 19th century. Our critical build programme, which embraces teaching, learning, sport, and social spaces, will allow us to enhance our educational offering across the curriculum, further our award-winning outreach initiatives, provide even greater access and social mobility and ensure we meet the needs of pupils today and for generations to come.

Our ambitious plans embody the school’s desire to be outstanding across all areas of the curriculum as well as recognising our heritage and the evolving needs of our fully co-ed population.

Sixth Form Centre

The first phase of development was the expansion of our Sixth Form Centre. Our sixth form population now benefits from a modern, spacious learning environment with flexible social spaces, a café, lecture space and study areas – an environment more aligned with the next stage of their lives.

Completed: October 2022

Sports facilities

Alongside these works, we have embarked on a three-phase expansion and enhancement of our Off Site Sports Ground in Raynes Park (Blagdons). In September, 2023 we opened our new All Weather Pitch and cricket nets.

The All Weather Pitch allows us to offer a broader range of co-educational sport with provision for netball, tennis, football and hockey, as well as cricket and rugby on the existing pitches. The new facilities give us a home ground for girls’ and boys’ sport and demonstrate our commitment to sports, wellbeing and fitness for our pupils and the wider community.

Further developments at our 14-acre site are now underway.

Funding

The critical build programme is dependent on securing appropriate funding and support. The intention is to fund this from a mix of income sources: school reserves; long-term borrowing; and philanthropic donations.

Our fundraising campaign, Giant Strides, will create inspiring spaces for teaching and learning across the curriculum as well as making more funded places available in the years ahead.
