On 13 October, Art staff took the Year 10 GCSE pupils to the V&A to teach students how to gather drawings and research from a gallery.
The V&A is a wonderful museum full of exciting artefacts from all over the world including very early works to cutting edge design. We saw different areas of the museum but began our visit in the Cast Courts, an invaluable record of pre-1900 sculpture, buildings and architectural elements that have become a world-class library and an important resource for conservators.
Our Year 10s were focused and hard working so much so that the Director of the V&A, Tristram Hunt, came to see our pupils as he had heard that there was an outstanding school group in the museum! It was a most enjoyable day for us all and a great start to the GCSE art course.
