Over the last few months we have been developing a brand new library cataloguing system (ACCESSIT) which allows pupils a very easy way of searching our library stock. We currently have almost 30,000 books and one of the best stocked school libraries in London, but now browsing the stock has become much easier than in the past. The new system sports eye-catching icons of many book covers to help avid readers select their next pick.
We are encouraging pupils to explore and experiment with this exciting new resource. We have already created many useful reading lists (under the ‘Quick Lists’ option), which gives many excellent suggestions, and new lists will be added frequently. Over the next few months extra features will also added.
Now that the Lower Sixth year group bubble has relocated to the Sixth Form Centre, the library is open on rotation to other year group bubbles across the week from Years 6 to 10. Pupils have been very excited to start using the library facilities again, particularly in Years 6 and 7 where most have been using the library for the first time. All pupils are extremely welcome to come and browse the library’s books, both old and new, or pick up items they may have reserved in ACCESSIT.
Pupils can also use ACCESSIT from home here, using their Emanuel School password and the single sign on (SSO) option. Parents can browse the catalogue as guests without the need to log in.
