The below shows a summary of our GCSE results from the last nine years in which formal examinations have taken place.
Exceptional (I)GCSE results
We are delighted to see our Year 11s rewarded with some outstanding results at (I)GCSE.
Over two-thirds of results (70%) were graded at 8 or 9, our highest level in a normal examination year, continuing our year-on-year growth at GCSE. The school has also achieved its highest 9-7% (A*-A) in examined years.
The breadth of performance across all subjects and alongside impressive co-curricular successes has provided a fantastic foundation for our pupils as they progress with their education.
(in 2020, 2021 and 2022, results were impacted by the COVID pandemic)
Key points:
- Over two-thirds of results were graded 9 or 8
- Four pupils received perfect grades (each receiving ten grade 9s)
- Over half the year group achieved a grade average of at least 8.0
- Pupil performance was strong across all aspects of the curriculum
- Almost 90% of Art, Design Technology, Drama and Music entries were graded 9-7
- 84% of humanities entries (Classical Civilisation, Geography, History, Economics, Religious Studies) were graded 9-7
- Two-thirds of Latin entries were graded 9
- 70% of modern language entries were graded 8 or 9
- Pupils achieved a superb ‘value-added’ of almost a grade for each result
The headmaster, Mr Milne, said how incredibly impressed he is with this talented and diligent group of pupils. ‘Each one of them ought to be really proud of themselves and confident in their abilities to make great progress in the coming years. As with the A Level cohort, our GCSE pupils have battled with very tough times during their early secondary schooling and to come through in this way and achieve such collective success is truly wonderful. Like all aspects of school life, such achievements do not happen in isolation, and in addition to the tremendous efforts of our boys and girls, I would also like to thank our teachers, support colleagues and governors to everything they have done!’
