We offer a wide range of different subjects for students to pursue at A level. Each subject is taught for eight periods per week (approximately four and a half hours) by dedicated staff who are experts in their field.
The subjects currently offered at Emanuel for A level are:
- Classical Civilisation
- Design Technology
- Drama and Theatre Studies
- English Literature
- Further Maths
- Government and Politics
- Religious Studies (Philosophy, Theology and Ethics)
- Photography (new from September 2020)
To find out more about the entry requirements, background and content of our A level subjects, as well as the different careers and higher education routes our leavers pursue, take a look at our guidance booklet.
Almost all students additionally complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) as part of their timetabled curriculum. Students who take Further Maths as a fourth A level do not take on the Extended Project Qualification.
At Emanuel we do not offer the option of AS levels. AS qualifications still exist, but they have been decoupled from A levels, meaning that they are entirely separate qualifications, examining different skills and different material to the two year A levels. An AS qualification does not contribute in any way to an A level grade any more.
