Congratulations to Upper Sixth student Ollie Olby, who has set a new British Record.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, Ollie has been continuing his rowing training from home and setting himself and the other senior boys challenges.

Last week, he received the official news from Concept2 that he has broken the British Junior Lightweight Men’s Record for rowing a marathon distance on the ergo and has set a new record time by rowing 42,195 meters in 2 hours 54 minutes and 50.2 seconds.

Ollie set this challenge himself and achieved the new British Record at home rowing on his own, without his crew mates and coaches surrounding and encouraging him. This fantastic achievement demonstrates his strength of character, commitment and drive – a superb example set by the captain of boys’ rowing at Emanuel School.
