Thank you to everyone who has so generously donated to the Emanuel School Wandsworth Foodbank and Spires appeal.  To date we have raised a fantastic £3,000 that will be shared equally between the two charities.

Both organisations struggle to meet demand at the best of times. With Covid-19, as you can imagine, the demand has grown exponentially. With your support, we have helped these organisations provide emergency food, basic essentials and clothing to individuals and families in our local area.

Foodbank Wandsworth has moved to home deliveries to ensure that help is there for those that need it. Many individuals that they support are disabled or have long-term health conditions. They also help many families with young children – the majority are single parent households. Home deliveries ensure that everyone is kept as safe as possible including Foodbank’s many volunteers. In March, Foodbank saw a 42% increase in referrals compared to March 2019 and in the first half of April 2020 they saw a 74% increase from the same period in 2019. These figures underline just how much our support is needed.

Spires is also finding that demand for their support has increased significantly. The funds we have raised through the appeal will help them provide staples such as tinned soup, baked beans, packet soups, energy bars, socks, underwear and soap. The Spires team is incredibly grateful for your support.
