On Saturday 28th January we were delighted to welcome pupils and parents from Year 11 and Lower Sixth, as well as groups of pupils from our community partner schools, to the annual ‘Careers and Higher Education Convention’.

The school hosted representatives from over 20 universities from across the country including the University of Bath, the University of Exeter and the University of Leeds, which are among the most popular destinations for pupils.  Professionals in attendance represented careers in a broad range of industries including law, accountancy and medicine, as well as careers in the dramatic arts, music and product design.

Alongside the ‘fair style’ event where pupils and their parents circulated the various stands, there was a series of informative talks. The University of Bristol delivered “Advice for applying to competitive universities” and there were a number of subject specific talks including advice and information on career prospects for those applying to psychology, engineering and medicine. The sessions on Advice for applying to universities abroad and Aspiring to Oxbridge were popular, reflecting the interest in these routes.

The success of this annual event is reliant on parents, Old Emanuels and friends of the school who generously give their time to support our pupils and our community partner school pupils. Thank you to everyone involved!
