Lily is Director and Founder of Activ Camps – multi-activity camps for children aged 4 to 14 during school holidays – and Activ Adventures, provider of outdoor programmes for schools.
She was in the first intake of girls to the school at year 7, and recalls dodging her way around teenage boys and footballs on the playground at break time on her first day. Her PE teachers, she says, were a big influence, and she particularly enjoyed the multiple sporting opportunities at Emanuel, such as games sessions, inter-house competitions, cross country races, London mini-marathon and adventure week trips.
It was quite special to be part of a big change for Emanuel.
Since leaving school, Lily played football for her university team and QPR Ladies for a number of years. She reached county standard in tennis and represented many different ladies’ teams, being fortunate to have the opportunity to play at Queens.
She enjoys adding to people’s lives with Activ – reaching out to others and being a big part of a young person’s life at an important time of their development. She discusses the challenges of setting up her own business, such as doing everything at the beginning from programme development, to organising and running events, as well as finding the time to complete the administration. However, although it was demanding, she cites this as the most enjoyable part of the process.
Activ Camps currently take place at Emanuel School in the holidays and Activ Adventures run a number of outdoor educational programmes.
