In more normal times, our various Christmas carol services are one of the spiritual and musical highlights of the school year.
Unfortunately, this year they have not been able to take place, apart from the Year 6 Christingle. Well, I should say, two Year 6 Christingles! In order to ensure good social distancing and avoid mixing the two forms in one gathering, Fr Labran and Miss McCloud held two Christingles back-to-back, with a quick gap for our wonderful cleaning team to sweep in and disinfect the pews!
Both were lovely events which included readings from various pupils retelling the mystery of Christ’s nativity, the meaning of the Christingle and the work of the Children’s Society. Each of these contained a message of how light and hope can break into the darkness. We couldn’t sing carols together but we enjoyed listening to organ music from Mr Janz and some beautiful recorded carols and accompanying videos. It was a truly moving occasion and the pupils conduct helped to create a very special, prayerful and spiritual atmosphere.
