On January 30th, five Emanuel pupils were confirmed by Bishop Rob Gillion an assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Southwark.

In this joyful service at St Luke’s Battersea, they joined others in making the promises which were made for them at their infant baptism and publicly proclaimed their desire to be Christians.

Ranging from Year 8-11, the group had been attending preparation sessions with the chaplain Father Labran since the start of the school year. Bishop Rob talked about how for many people faith “completes them” and receiving the sacrament of confirmation is a sign and seal of this. However, he also reminded them that both baptism and confirmations are beginnings of a journey and not graduation from church!

Unfortunately, a sixth member of the group was isolating and unable to attend. However, we look forward to him being confirmed in the near future.
