On a crisp autumn afternoon, Emanuel School made history by playing their first golf fixture in over 20 years, taking on a strong Dulwich College side. The match, held at Dulwich, marked an exciting chapter for Emanuel, fielding a team of six students: Emma, Hugo, Eddie, Will, Felix, and Felix.

Despite a 6-0 loss on the scorecard, the Emanuel team showed exceptional spirit and determination throughout the contest. Each player competed with heart, proudly representing the school and setting the tone for what promises to be the beginning of a new era in golf at Emanuel.

A special moment unfolded as siblings Emma and Hugo  took to the course to face their brother from Dulwich, making it a truly historic occasion for the Brydon family. Brother Ed got the better of his younger Brother Hugo on this occasion, but Hugo is already preparing for the rematch hopefully in the summer term.

With the overall match standing at 5-0 in Dulwich’s favour, Felix refused to give up his fight, taking his game to the wire. His match went deep into the evening, ending in near darkness as he battled until the very end, epitomising the Emanuel spirit.

Although the result didn’t go Emanuel’s way, the courage, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship displayed by the entire team were a true credit to the school. This fixture is just the beginning, and with plans to develop golf further at Emanuel, the future looks bright.

Watch this space as we look forward to more fixtures and continued growth of golf at Emanuel School!
