We are thrilled to announce that Anna (Year 10) has been selected for the U17 England Hockey Performance Centre squad (Weybridge), following an extensive assessment process along with the best hockey players in South of England.
This is a wonderful recognition for Anna and a great opportunity to train alongside the best players in the region and receive quality coaching in a highly competitive environment over the coming months. This will challenge her to take her game to the next level. Selected players from the Performance Centre squads will represent their region in in a 4-day festival in July, from where England Hockey will select their U16 and U18 national squads.
Anna has worked really hard to develop her hockey at school, club and county. Weybridge PC is one of England’s 16 centres who provide training and competition opportunities for selected players who have consistently demonstrated high performance levels. We hope this will inspire more pupils to push themselves in and outside of school to get themselves into the England Hockey pathway.
Anna continues her journey with England Hockey, having being selected from the pool of players from the counties in the South Region to the U17 girls’ squad, which is a significant achievement for a player of her age. Anna has been playing hockey since she was five years old with Spencer Hockey Club. She was selected for the Surrey County U14 squad when she was 12. She was then selected to attend the England Southern Performance Centre U15 (Weybridge), after being nominated for assessment by the Regional co-ordinator, where she was able to play for both County and Performance Centre last year. Following her successful reselection she will now be part of the U17 regional squad.
We wish Anna a fantastic season at the Performance Centre as she continues with her hockey career. We are very proud of your hockey achievements to date and are looking forward to your successes in the future!
