Last Tuesday, the Genesis Cinema hosted the world premiere of feature film ‘The Impact’. This production featured a short film (School’s Out), which Mr Skinner (Media Co-ordinator) and some of our current and former pupils made back in 2018.
We are absolutely delighted that, out of the numerous directors on the project, Hilla (Lower Sixth), Rudi (OE), Eleanor (OE) and Natacha (OE) all won awards for ‘best direction’ for our section of the feature film. They also became world record holders because of the huge number of collaborators on this feature film. Additionally, Ice (Year 11) won the ‘best music’ award for her excellent soundtrack.
Speaking about the event, Hilla said “attending the Impact50 premiere was an incredibly exciting experience for all of us involved with School’s Out. It was amazing to see the whole feature film come together after such a long wait, and I was taken aback when I won an award, it being my directorial debut!”. Ice added “I thought the event was an incredible experience that allowed me to connect with other creative individuals and gain advice from experienced professionals in the film industry. It was so shocking to hear my own music play out of a huge cinema sound system and winning an award was a wonderful surprise!”
There is an exclusive opportunity to watch The Impact at an online premiere of the film on Saturday 25th June at 8pm. Tickets are available here. More information about he film can be found on IMDb. If you have any questions please contact Mr Skinner (james@skinner.org.uk).
