On Thursday 30th June, the inaugural Emanuel Film Festival was held here at the school.

There were two screenings of short films made by our pupils over the last year.  This included films made during the two Film in a Week projects (October Half Term break and Easter break) as well as films made by media/filmmaking club members for the House Film Competition. There were 11 entries into this year’s competition from pupils in years 6 to 9 and they were judged by actor Francisco Labbe (The Hustle, The 355). Fran was very impressed by the standard of all the entries, so congratulations to all the filmmakers!  The winning films in this year’s competition were:

1st Place:

A New Start by Dasha, Oliver, Alex, Macsen, Laurence, Ruby and Daniel

2nd Place:

Project Arthurite by Sarp, Raffi, Nico, Arthur, Danial and Emilio

 Runners-up:

Life Lessons by Edie, Flora, Amelie and Anna

Hard Life by Dasha, Dora, Mizuha and Violet

Evil Ice Cream by Roman

The second screening of the film festival included ‘School’s Out’  ,  a short film made by pupils from Emanuel and Westminster City Schools in 2018 (produced by Mr Skinner),  which is now included in collaborative feature film ‘The Impact’ (www. Impact50film.com).

This first film festival was a great sign of things to come here at Emanuel and we are very excited for future Film Festivals where we will also be able to screen films made by pupils on the new Film A Level course that starts here at Emanuel.
