We were delighted with the enthusiasm shown by the pupils in Years 6-9 for the Junior House Chess event which concluded after three weeks of competition.

There were many close fixtures with Wellington eventually coming top, remaining undefeated after three matches:

  • 1st place: Wellington 5 (+10.5)
  • 2nd place: Drake 4 (+9.5)
  • 3rd place: Clyde 3 (+8.5)
  • 4th place: Lyons 0 (+7.5)

Although girls occasionally enter, this event is traditionally dominated by boys. However, this year we had a record number of girls participating which was wonderful to see.
