On Friday 4 March, the Music Department booked one of the world’s most iconic dance music venues: Ministry of Sound.

The pupils who are having DJ lessons at school had an opportunity that no other school has ever offered: the chance to DJ in Ministry’s world-famous main room ‘The Box’, which has hosted superstar headliners such as Fatboy Slim, Tiësto, Calvin Harris and David Guetta.  The event started with a welcome talk and documentary style video about the history of Ministry Of Sound, which was followed by an extended B2B (back-to-back) set given by Emanuel DJ pupils.    Family and friends were able to watch pupils as they operated the decks of the main room’s DJ booth while experiencing a selection of electronic dance music through the colossal, award-winning sound system.  Towards the end of the evening, we were honoured to welcome Mambo Ibiza resident & BBC Radio DJ Ridney to mix an incredible set of songs.

This has been a really exciting journey for our DJ pupils.  From their very first lesson 18 months ago to performing in the greatest dance music venue on the planet.  Pupils, staff and guests had the most brilliant evening and we look forward to next year’s with much anticipation.
