Dyslexia Awareness Week, an event organised by the British Dyslexia Association, encourages us to reflect on the positives and barriers experienced by those living with dyslexia. This year the focus is on how individuals, organisations and the education system have continued to succeed and breakthrough these barriers.

At Emanuel our focus was on successful people who have dyslexia who broke through barriers to achieve their success. We included Sir Steven Redgrave, the Olympic gold medal winning rower, Albert Einstein, widely considered to be a genius, Eddie Izzard popular entertainer,  who ‘believes there is a link between dyslexia and creativity’ and Lord Rogers the architect who designed the Shard in London. Of course, a number of successful Emanuel students and teachers who have dyslexia added their names and their achievements to the celebration board!
