National Neurodiversity Week at Emanuel School is a celebration of the unique strengths and perspectives of neurodiverse individuals within the school community and in the public eye. Held annually, this week-long event raises awareness and understanding of diverse neurological profiles, including but not limited to dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyspraxia, and Tourette syndrome.

Pupils are encouraged to complete quizzes, watch short film clips and see other information which explain neurodiverse traits and show the successes of, for example, astronauts such as Scott Kelly, pop stars such as Cara Delevingne, Wil.I.am and Billy Eilish, journalists such as Chris Packham, writers such as Agatha Christie, chefs such as Jamie Oliver and actors such as Dan Akroyd and Jim Carey.

Information is located around the School to further encourage discussion and understanding.

The overarching goal of National Neurodiversity Week at Emanuel School is to create a culture of acceptance and celebration of neurodiversity. By fostering understanding, empathy, and support, the school empowers neurodiverse individuals to embrace their unique strengths and talents, ultimately creating a more inclusive and equitable learning environment and making the most of every one’s strength.
