We learned that Adrian Bailey (OE1942-44) passed away in January 2025.
Adrian was a painter with a love of reading. Whilst at Emanuel, he was given the nickname Tortoise due to the speed at which he would walk along the street whilst reading en route to school. He was a freelance illustrator for book and magazine covers, a graphic designer and copywriter who came up with the slogan for the Mini Cooper. As a writer, he contributed to magazines, travel journalism and reviewed restaurants. Adrian worked on books on a diverse variety of subjects including photography and cooking, psychology and rock climbing.
A very accomplished gentleman, his obituary is featured in The Times written by Anthony Gardner. Please click here to read it.
