Emanuel sixth form offers a friendly and stimulating, co-educational environment. Learning in the sixth form is a partnership between students and staff to help young people achieve their best, plan their futures and to thrive as young adults.
I firmly believe the key to our success is the level of support offered to each student through their form tutor, head of year and myself as head of sixth form, as well as the enrichment offered by our societies. We aim to ignite passions, to help students value independent thought and research and to become flexible thinkers.
Sixth formers benefit enormously from the co-curricular life at Emanuel, taking lead roles in drama and music productions, captaining sports teams, engaging in life drawing classes, running young enterprise companies, taking part in national debating competitions and much more. These opportunities build their confidence and soft skills, and for some become the focus of their working lives.
There is a strong sense of mutual respect between pupils, and in between pupils and staff, which in turn contributes to a welcoming atmosphere where everyone, regardless of age, background or status, is made to feel immediately at ease.Independent Schools Inspectorate
Helping students make the right decision about their future is a central focus of our sixth form. The programme of talks, workshops and dedicated research time begins early in the lower sixth. Students are guided by their form tutor and many other specialists to make confident and informed decisions and to build a CV that they are proud of.
The hub of sixth form life at Emanuel is the sixth form centre with its cafe, study area and the terrace overlooking the school fields. Sixth formers can enjoy private study in a dedicated study area or in the calm of the school library. Our sixth form is a happy community where older students buddy up with younger students to help them adjust to advanced level study. This collaborative environment is warmly spoken of by our former students (alumni, known as Old Emanuels or OEs) and parents.
I look forward to welcoming you to Emanuel and giving you the opportunity to talk to our students.
