Over 100 students from Year 7-13 were involved either on or offstage in shaking the walls of the Hampden Hall with electric performances of this year’s musical, School of Rock from 16th – 19th March.
The level of talent was extraordinary, as students sang, danced, acted, designed costumes, rigged lights, called cues, mixed sound levels, filmed, stage managed and totally owned their individual and collective roles.
Student actors, technicians, musicians, and film crew blew audiences away with their commitment and dedication, creating performances that few professional productions on any stage in the country could rival in terms of energy, passion, and the sheer number of people on stage!
Having started rehearsals in September, School of Rock was a colossal effort from students and staff in Drama and Music and was a fantastic achievement by all. With dazzling choreography, head-banging rockers and heart-stopping ballads it was a privilege to sit in the packed-out auditorium – and what a thrill it was to welcome back in-person audiences for the musical once again.
All students should be proud of their achievements, and we look forward to the next production.
