In recent newsletters, we were delighted to announce that both Nico (7HAB) and Oliver (8RDC) were awarded prizes for their entries to the multi-school 2021/22 TSBA competition, which has almost thirty participants. We are thrilled that the Trinity School Book Award (TSBA) is back for another year to promote an incredible range of great new novels to be explored. In fact, we are so confident in our new list it has been expanded from a ‘Six Book’ to an ‘Eight Book Challenge’!

This year’s theme of ‘Facing the Future’ is incredibly topical and provides readers with a range of themes and styles that include comedy, drama, dystopia, fantasy, school and coming of age tales.

Pupils have from now until Christmas to complete the Eight Book Challenge and the library has multiple copies of each title, which can be borrowed for the summer holidays. The theme of Facing the Future allows for a fascinating range of fiction, which involves the environment in both fantastical and activism settings (Green Rising, The Summer We Turned Green and Burning Sunlight) whilst other titles which feature more personal journeys (In the Key of Code, Clean Getaway and The Cats We Meet Along the Way).

Further information about the review and creative activities will follow in the autumn term and there are extension lists for pupils in Year 9/10 and a selection of slightly easier books for pupils in the Hill Form.

Pupils can also find further information by visiting the library catalogue (Accessit) and by searching for ‘Eight Book Challenge’ can download further information. The catalogue can be found here.

Please do not hesitate to contact tony.jones@emanuel.org.uk should you have any questions or queries about the suitability of the books.
