The U14 A squad had a fantastic netball season and had been working hard to prepare for the Surrey Netball Finals, which is the penultimate tournament of the season. They drew in section A and came up against Putney High School in their first game, who are renown for their formidable play. The team were determined to give them a competitive match and started with confidence winning the first quarter 5-3, however, they could not sustain the pressure, and Putney dominated the second half, winning 12-5. This meant that Emanuel had to win their remaining pool games to make it through as runner-up of pool A.

The second match against Weydon was tough and was going goal for goal, the U14’s kept fighting and held their nerve to secure the win 14-13. The next two matches against St Teresas and SWP Emanuel dominated winning 10-3 and 12-2.

Their final pool match was against Epsom College, and they had to take the win to make the final stages of the tournament. They started well and were dominated at half term, however, Epsom fought back to level the score, and Emanuel had to dig in, keep their heads and fight till the final whistle, which they did, making it into the semi-finals. The semis saw them drawn against a strong St Johns team and having fought hard throughout the tournament they ran out of energy and unfortunately were unable to compete losing 18-5. They should be incredibly proud of their achievements this season and making the semis is no mean feat. Well done to all girls involved!
