Our first Hub session was well attended – we had over 40 Ukrainian families, 15 parent and Emanuel-linked volunteers including multiple Ukrainian speakers, some Emanuel pupils and staff.

Our first session focused on networking and casual conversation and some creative, wonderfully messy artwork. (We had an art station for the younger children which proved a hit.) We identified areas where the attendees would most like support.  These are English language classes, jobs and access to education for their children. We are putting plans in place to help in all these areas. In some cases, this will be signposting to other organisations best placed to help. In others, we will aim to meet the need ourselves.

The Coffee and Conversation Hub was great fun and extremely rewarding. if you are interested in helping out, either at the Hub or exploring other ideas, please do get in touch  (lisa.irwin@emanuel.org.uk.) The Hub is running on Saturday mornings, 10.00 am to 11.30 am, until the end of term excluding the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

Please reach out to friends and family hosting Ukrainian refugees to let them know about our Hub. All in our community are welcome.
