Winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves drive for Spires – we need your help!
Spires is a charity based in Streatham that works to improve the lives of homeless people in our local community. Last month, as part of our Lower Sixth community partnership work, we went to visit the Spires Centre to learn about the work that they do. We learned that most of their clients are not what we typically think of as a “homeless person” that we might see sitting on the street. Many of their clients are insecurely housed, unemployed, or suffering homelessness due to mental illnesses or divorce. We met some of their ex-clients whose lives have been transformed by Spires.
When we visited, we were able to donate 34 winter jackets and nine pairs of shoes donated through Emanuel. This was great but Spires needs so much more. The days, and particularly the nights, are starting to get really cold now. We are collecting adult-sized winter coats, warm hats, gloves and scarves. Clothes should be clean and in good condition – suitable to improve the quality of life of a homeless person.
We are collecting all items from Wednesday 27th November to Friday 29th November before school and at break time in Hampden Hall. We will take your donations to Spires on the Friday afternoon. Thanks in advance – your help will make a huge difference to the lives of homeless people in our local community.
