Emanuel School is seeking an experienced and inspiring Director of Rowing to play a key role in the management and strategic vision of our high-quality rowing provision.

As Director of Rowing, you will oversee all aspects of rowing at Emanuel, including the management and development of a team of specialist coaches. You will also ensure inspirational and high-quality coaching is delivered to students across all levels. Your leadership will continue to develop the Boat Club’s strong culture of personal support and collective aspiration, whilst providing opportunities for all our rowers to compete for honours at local, regional and national level.

In addition to your management duties, you will coach one of the senior squads, promoting a culture of high performance which stretches and challenges pupils.

You will be a passionate and energetic individual with extensive experience in a similar-sized rowing programme. You will need to hold a Level 3 coaching qualification and have a strong track record of coaching juniors or young adults to a high standard, from beginner level through to elite and aspiring junior international rowers.

The role requires excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, as well as the passion, energy and enthusiasm to maintain a positive and ambitious culture of achievement within the Boat Club.

French Language Assistant

Salary: £7,200 per annum

Emanuel School is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic French Language Assistant to support the day-to-day running of a thriving Languages Department.

As a French Language Assistant, you will plan, prepare and deliver speaking practice sessions to pupils preparing for their GCSE, AS and A Level examinations. Working with pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, you will help develop their proficiency in the French language, providing constructive feedback and support to guide improvement.

You will be a fluent French speaker, with a degree or equivalent professional qualification in French. A current knowledge of contemporary issues in France, particularly youth culture, is essential. Previous experience of teaching or tutoring is also required, along with excellent communication skills in both French and English.

This is a part time role for 4 hours per week, term time only.

Payroll & Pensions Manager

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional to take the lead on a role that is both hands-on and strategically important to the smooth running of Emanuel School. As Payroll & Pensions Manager, you will oversee the full payroll process for around 220 staff, acting as the school’s internal expert on payroll, pensions, and benefits.

This is a key time to join us, as we prepare to review and retender our outsourced payroll provider. You will play a central role in that process while also helping us streamline and improve our in-house systems. You will be responsible for overseeing and reconciling all aspects of the payroll function, from data entry and timesheet management to ensuring the correct application of PAYE, National Insurance, student loans and other deductions. Alongside this, you will help digitise and improve internal procedures, making the process more efficient and accurate.

To succeed in this role, you must hold a CIPP qualification and have strong knowledge and experience of payroll practices. You will need a solid understanding of accounting principles, alongside proven experience managing both payroll and pension administration. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to manage competing deadlines while remaining calm under pressure. Previous experience of working within a school or educational environment is not essential.
