At the end of the last academic year pupils in the lower school took part in Stem4’s Early Adopter School initiative for Youth Mental Health Day (7th September).
Pupils reflected on how the past year has impacted their lives and shared how they aimed to #StrideForward and move towards positive mental health. Pupils considered goals for themselves and also for young people in general, before breaking down how these goals could be achieved in small, manageable chunks. Further to this, pupils were then set the task to produce a piece of work (such as a painting, dance or poem) presenting their goals or the impact of the pandemic in a creative way. We are delighted to see that Flora Cole’s (Year 7) piece of art work has been included as part of the national campaign and can be seen in Stem4’s video (00:51) here.
The lower school will be focusing on mental health when they begin the Mind Your 5 programme in week 3.
