Emanuel was thrilled to host the first Battersea Rise Trust Football tournament of the season on Thursday 31st October on the school sports fields.
Year 4 pupils from eight local state primary schools competed admirably for the trophy! Supported by Fulham Football Foundation’s able umpires and tournament organiser, teams of 10 boys and girls (14 in one case!) competed in a round robin 7-aside tournament.
Participating primary schools included Ark John Archer, Falconbrook, Griffin, Langford, Sacred Heart, St Mary’s, Trinity St Mary’s and Westbridge. After hotly contested semis, Sacred Heart beat Griffin in a nail biting final. The top four teams – Sacred Heart, Griffin, St Mary’s and Langford – will compete in a Grand Final here at Emanuel in the summer term. They have also been invited to play in a tournament at Fulham Football Club’s Motspur Park training ground – an amazing experience!
The tournament is one of the Battersea Rise Trust’s many community partnership initiatives focused on providing opportunities for the pupils and schools with the fewest resources in our community. If you are interested in finding out more about our activities, have time and talents to share, we would love to hear from you.
