Emanuel was thrilled to host the inaugural Battersea Rise Football tournament on Tuesday 26th March on the school sports fields. Year 4 pupils from eight local state primary schools hotly contested the right to raise the winner’s trophy!

Supported by Fulham Football Foundation’s able referees and tournament organiser, teams of 10 boys and girls competed in a round robin 7-aside tournament. Entry was oversubscribed – sport is significantly underfunded in the state sector so supplementing sports provision is much needed. Participating primary schools included Christ Church, John Burns, Falconbrook, Sellincourt, Shaftesbury Park, St Mary’s, Alderbrook and Sacred Heart. Alderbrook Primary proved to be worthy winners beating Sacred Heart Battersea in a nail biting final.

Fierce competition on the field

The tournament, one of many initiatives planned as part of the Battersea Rise Trust’s community partnership programme, was focused on providing opportunities for the pupils and schools with the fewest resources in our community. If you are interested in finding out more about our activities, have time and talents to share, we would love to hear from you.
