Thank you to all the pupils who wrote Christmas cards to our older OEs in December. It was wonderful to see how kind, caring and thoughtful our pupils’ messages were and how positive their outlook was.

In the cards, current pupils told OEs about what they enjoy about school and why it had meant so much to them to be back on site after the first lockdown. The cards were very well-received and many OEs wrote to tell us that reading the card had cheered them up during a difficult time. Thank you again to all the pupils who wrote cards and we very much hope you will do so again next year.

Here are some of the comments we received from OEs:

“Today I received a most welcome card to add to my usual from friends and family. What a superb idea! I was overwhelmed to receive it. Please pass on my grateful thanks for a well written and thoughtful message. Many thanks for contributing a little ray of sunshine in this gloomy period.”

“What a wonderful idea to send Christmas cards to old boys like me. It really cheered me up on a gloomy day during an awful time.”

“I was excited, touched and thrilled to receive a Christmas card from Emanuel. It all made me quite emotional.”

“I was very pleased and touched to receive an Emanuel School Christmas card. It was very thoughtful especially during these troubled times.”

“I received a Christmas card and lovely message from a year 10 student. What a wonderful gesture and such a pleasant surprise. Such a positive way to link the present with the past!”
