On Wednesday 16th October, the Sixth Form Classical Civilisation and Latin students went on a trip to see the prestigious Cambridge University Greek Play.

This year, the play was Oedipus at Colonus. When we arrived, Mr Adams had left enough time to explore Cambridge, which I had never been to before, and report back to the meeting point with some time to spare. The play itself was a modern adaptation performed entirely in Classical Greek (with subtitles of course) based around Oedipus’ hospital bed for its entirety. They used some pretty intense thunder sound effects as well as strobes which really made the divine aspect of the play more overt.

After the play we had a little more time to explore before we were on our way back to London. I really enjoyed the play, especially the Greek dubstep right at the end as it put a look of confusion on the faces of all the senior members of the audience!
