The Clapham Junction rail disaster of 1988 was commemorated in a number of ways by Emanuel School last month.
The sixth form received a moving insight into the day’s events when Mr Gimlette, an Emanuel parent who was junior counsel at the disaster inquiry, spoke to them. He gave a detailed presentation which highlighted the heroic role of a sixth form student in helping victims before the emergency services arrived. He also explained how technology and first responder care has now greatly improved.
