We are keen to support the local charity, Little Village. Little Village is like a food bank, but for clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5. They also provide a warm, supportive community for the families they see – building connections, local networks and facilitating support between parents. Since they launched in 2016, they have supported over 17,000 children across London.
Volunteers are critical to what they do. They currently offer Duke of Edinburgh volunteering opportunities at their sites in Tooting, Balham, Kings Cross, and Wembley. Joining one of their friendly site teams, volunteers sort and pack items for families experiencing hardship in our local community.
Little Village currently has availability at their Tooting site (144 Tooting High Street, SW17) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm; and Saturdays from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. (Volunteers agree the hours they will work within these sessions.)
If your children are interested, please have them complete this signup form.
Little Village will then be in touch to arrange a taster session to ensure it is the right fit. If it is, volunteers will be added to the rota and on their way to completing their DofE requirement.
They are also keen to have more adult volunteers too. If you are interested, please also complete the form. It may be fun to volunteer together!
