Four of our Year 8 girls (Anna Ayres, Evie Cound, Izzy Perry and Ruby Nicklin) were lucky enough to play in the 2019 UK Indoor Hockey Championships over the Christmas break.
The pupils played at the Copper Box Olympic Venue for the Spencer Hockey Club girls’ U14 team, competing against 15 other teams from across the country. Unfortunately, they were unable to bring home any silverware (they drew 3 and lost 3), but they had great fun playing some of the best teams in the country in front of a big crowd, at a venue that hosted many Olympic sports in 2012.
The highlight for the girls was running on for the opening ceremony and getting introduced backed to music and a laser show! It was a great experience and they’ll hopefully be back again next year to bring home some silverware.
