On 11th March, four talented Year 8 students from Emanuel School—Ben, Lila, Sarus, and Ella—travelled to the City of London Boys’ School to compete in the prestigious UKMT Maths Team Challenge. Facing off against 24 of the top schools in London, the Emanuel team demonstrated exceptional mathematical skill, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the competition.
Emanuel School was the youngest team in attendance, with our Year 8 students competing against teams primarily composed of Year 9 students. Despite the age gap, they rose to the challenge with confidence and determination.
The competition kicked off with a team round where Emanuel showcased their outstanding collaboration, placing in the top six schools early on. Their strong performance continued throughout the day, ultimately securing a top 10 finish. The overall competition was won by Tiffin School, but Emanuel’s achievement was nothing short of impressive.
This fantastic result highlights the team’s potential and sets the stage for even greater success next year when they return as Year 9 students. Their experience and growth will no doubt make them even stronger contenders in 2026.
A huge thank you to Ms Cojbasic for her dedicated coaching and support throughout the year, and for accompanying the team to the event. Emanuel School is incredibly proud of Ben, Lila, Sarus, and Ella—congratulations on a brilliant performance!
