We are delighted to announce that Emanuel School has been shortlisted for the Independent-State School Partnership Award in this year’s TES Independent School Awards.

The shortlist, announced on 26th March 2021, recognises the most outstanding institutions that the independent sector has to offer.

Tes editor Jon Severs said: “After a difficult year for all schools, it is an honour to celebrate the Tes Independent School awards, not only to celebrate excellent practice but to ensure that practice is shared far and wide.

We received an unparalleled number of entries this year, which is testament to the great work all have done during the pandemic. The schools that have been shortlisted should be proud – it’s a remarkable achievement.”

Robert Milne, Headmaster of Emanuel School, said: “We are thrilled to receive this national recognition and be shortlisted for the partnerships award. The initial ideas for many of the projects, and especially the Primary Ambitions programme, came from the pupils themselves. I know from speaking with them how proud they are – we all are – to see things thriving in this way. Beyond this programme, we now have a host of initiatives and more to come, from transformative free places, to summer schools, revision clinics and plans for a Sixth Form tuition and university coaching scheme. Everything we are doing is to boost social mobility in the area and most importantly, we could not achieve anything without the incredible partnership, wisdom and advice from our primary and secondary school partners.”

Sadly the awards night will not be held in person this year as planned. For the very first time, Tes Independent School Awards winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony on Friday 30th April 2021.
