We are thrilled to have been named as a finalist for an award in the Independent Schools of the Year for Performing Arts (Music & Drama) category.

Emanuel School has a long history of providing outstanding performing arts opportunities in music, drama, and film.

With eight productions a year covering all year groups, a whole school musical and two companies that go to the Edinburgh Fringe, Emanuel pupils have an extraordinary range of opportunities available to them. In total, this year, over 300 pupils will be involved in school productions. All performances are exclusively run by Emanuel pupils who operate lighting, sound and AV as well as stage managing and designing the entire show with staff on hand to offer support.

There are fourteen different clubs a week covering tech and costume as well as performance skills. Furthermore, we welcome pupils from local primaries who take part in five-week puppetry skills workshops.

The music department offers a stunning range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities in classical, jazz, rock, and music production. Performances range from informal Performers’ Platforms to larger-scale events at the Clapham Grand, Ministry of Sound, Omeara, and in our very own Hampden Hall! ABRSM and Rockschool examinations run from Grade 1 through to Diploma levels.

Our film and media department offers pupils the chance to work on a broad range of projects. Pupils have the chance to work independently on animation pictures, and in small groups to produce Emanuel News bulletins and submissions for the annual house film competition.
