Last month, Year 9 pupil Kate played in a concert with the National Children’s Orchestra (NCO) at Portsmouth’s Guildhall.

It was a wonderful space-themed programme that included Strauss’s Sunrise from Also Sprach Zarathustra and Holst’s Planets. In the run-up to the concert, Kate spent nine days with the orchestra at Sherborne School for Girls in Dorset, rehearsing for seven hours a day. In the concert, Kate played xylophone, glockenspiel, snare drum, clash cymbals, timpani and triangle.

Kate now has the chance to play Holst’s Planets again on 10th November, when she plays with the NCO alongside the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at the CBSO Centre.

Well done Kate!
