We have been entering the worldwide book-based competition, the Kids’ Lit Quiz, for ten years and have just selected our team for our 11th tilt at winning the prestigious and highly competitive South London Heat.
Very well done to Alex, Edie, Isabelle, Katie, Isabella, Annabel, Lakshmi and Imogen for being selected and who will be representing at Emanuel on Monday 25th November at KCS Wimbledon.
Our best ever performance was in 2015 when James, Esme, Pablo and Violet won the South London Heat and went onto to contest the national finals in what was an incredibly exciting week. We have also finished third on two other occasions, by 0.5 in 2017 when we were a whisker away from a second victory. There can be as many as 60 teams involved, so it will be very tough for our players to equal those great performances, but we have our fingers crossed.
Wayne, the quiz master, travels the world leading all the quizzes which eventually lead to the international final next summer. He asks 100 themed questions in groups of ten. Some are easy, others more obscure, based upon old books and classics. Our team has been practising hard and we hope both Emanuel ‘A’ and ‘B’ do well next Monday, and equally importantly, have a great afternoon.
