On Monday 20th and Wednesday 22nd March, 144 Year 7 Latin students had an unforgettable trip to Windsor.
The cohort of students had a stroll through Windsor Great Park, viewing the beautiful Cascade Waterfall, haunted by river nymphs, and the temple of Leptis Magna. After a fascinating lecture on the ruins, students completed a fun bingo quiz based on the labours of Hercules which once adorned the temple metopes. We had a quick pitstop in the café for waffles and coffee, and then completed the short walk back to the coach.
Students then arrived in Legoland.
We had a chance to try out some of the rides and attractions in the park, touring round Miniland within forms and visiting the arcades and refreshment stalls. We visited the ‘Mythica’ section of the park in which students came face to face with some of Hercules’ greatest foes, including the Hydra and Nemean lion. There was also a tour through the enchanted forest, a ride on the Fire and Ice Freefall and a group ride on the sensational Flight of the Sky Lion, the UK’s first ever 4D flying theatre.
Students had a fabulous time with their friends and teachers, and it was a great way to bring some of the mythology studied in lessons to life.
Thank you to Mr Adams, Miss Ferstman, Ms Philp, Mr Clarke, Miss Kappatou, Mrs Chetwood, Miss Burdett, Mrs Limon, Miss Mackenzie and Mr Still for their help on both trips.
