Kate (Year 12) trained with the National Youth Percussion Orchestra over the Summer holidays, and performed the tuned-percussion premiere of Philip Glass’s string quartet “Mishima” in a concert at Cheltenham Ladies College.
Only 12 percussionists from around the country were selected for the orchestra, so this was a wonderful opportunity for Kate. As well as tuned percussion (including marimba, vibraphone and glockenspiel), Kate played all manner of instruments ranging from marching drum and bass drum through to cymbal and conga!
