We were delighted to hear that our former Captain of Boats from 2006-07, Luke Dillon, has been elected Steward at the Henley Royal Regatta. This is a highly prestigious position and recognises Luke’s long-term commitment to the Regatta, and to the sport of rowing in general.

Sir Steve Redgrave announced the appointments on the Henley website: “We’re delighted to have Alison [Faiers], Luke and Sarah [Cook] in their new posts. They’ve all played integral roles at the Regatta in recent years. The Stewards are a tribute to the long-standing history of the Regatta; we look forward to seeing them all in their new roles at next year’s event.”

The website also comments: “[Luke] rowed at Henley Royal Regatta in six different crews from 2005 to 2011 and became an assistant to the Regatta’s Chairman in 2016 [….] Throughout recent years, each [of the three] has been heavily involved in the Regatta.”

Luke also rowed in some strong Emanuel crews and showed 110% commitment to all aspects of school life when he was a pupil and we’re not surprised his tremendous work ethic has been rewarded by Henley. When not on the river, Luke participated in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and was a key member of the lighting and backstage crew of many musicals and drama productions. Luke was also an outstanding Deputy Head Boy and the photo above features the senior boys of 2006-07, of which he was Captain. Congratulations to Luke for this outstanding achievement.
